A patient may have a surgical breast biopsy, and if the pathology report indicates that the specimen is malignant, the patient may elect to have an immediate radical mastectomy. The mastectomy may be performed during the postoperative period of the biopsy . Modifier -58 can be used if a therapeutic procedure is performed because of the findings of a diagnostic procedure. Would this be a good example for this modifier.
